POSITION PURPOSE
This position will provide mission critical, integrated, operational support for the Accounting Department’s infrastructure essentials.
Pay: Starting at $31.25/hr
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Responsible for invoicing and collection process for the Government customers under applicable contract(s)
- Ensure all deadlines are met as part of the accounting close process.
- Record journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations, including researching and resolving variances.
- Written and verbal customer service skills are essential for responding to inquiries from our subcontractors, customers, as well as internal departments.
- Review and processing of ~10k expense reimbursement checks per month.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts processing over 10k checks per month.
- Reporting of payment transactions into multiple systems, including ERP system and contract software.
- Build close working relationships with project operations and contract management, including active attendance in weekly status meetings.
- Review and improve processes to ensure a high level of customer service
- Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- Attention to detail and accuracy very critical in this role.
- Resolve any disputes/issues on invoices communicated from customers
- Ensure prompt cash collection
- Report aged receivables, payables and performance metrics monthly to senior management
- Actively manage aged receivable risk situations to maximize collections and minimize write-offs
- Develop and exhibit expert level of technical ability for areas of responsibility
- Take full responsibility for timeliness, completeness and accuracy and meeting metric goals
- Review and improve processes to ensure a high level of customer service
- Strong focus on process improvement and ability to review and change processes to improve service levels
- Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
- Prepare metrics and variance explanations on program variances.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, other members of the billing department, the payroll department and account managers. Exceptional customer service to customers, account managers and other staff members. Weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BA/BS in Accounting, required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years experience in Accounting
Medical or government contract accounting experience preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES: A strong team player with superb interpersonal skills
Knowledge of cash, accounts receivable/payable procedures
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals
Strong attention to detail and goal oriented
Commitment to excellent customer service
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Strong Organizational Skills
Trustworthy and attention to confidentiality
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITY: Competent in the use of MS Word and Excel. Proficiency in Workday (or other relevant ERP system).
