Job Description

Loyal Source is looking for a Director of Nursing for a notional travel employment opportunity.

Pay: $65/hr + Travel Expenses

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES 

Nurses are the largest group of health care providers within the clinic’s staffed facilities, providing care 24 hours per day. As part of a comprehensive primary care team (nurses, medical providers, dental providers, behavioral health providers, administrative staff), nurses in the clinic practice in a collaborative environment providing ambulatory, emergency, mental health, and infirmary care. The Director of Nursing provides direct supervision of Nurse Managers, indirect supervision of all nursing staff and oversees all aspects of the nursing program within the facility. Directs Staff Development ensuring execution of orientation and other staff training, Infection Control, oversees staff scheduling, coverage for absences, develops and, and provides guidance and counseling to staff to maximize performance and adherence to appropriate guidance. The Director of Nursing is fully oriented and credentialed as a registered nurse, collaborates with the Facility Health Program Manager in areas such as Medical Quality Management and Patient Safety. Also collaborates with the Medical Director, Health Services Administrator, and Vice President of Program. Provides care to patients as needed to meet mission requirements. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  1. Graduate from a Baccalaureate or Masters nursing program for Registered Nurse located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Must possess of a current, full, active and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.  
  2. Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.  
  3. Minimum ten years professional nursing experience.  
  4. Minimum three years supervisory experience. 
  5. Experience in a detention/correctional healthcare setting preferred.  

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  1. Current, full and unrestricted license as Registered Nurse in the state in which the duty station is located, or a compact state that allows practice in the state in which the duty station is located. Any changes to license must be reported to employer immediately. 
  2. This position does not require privileging.  
  3. Maintains BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®. 
  4. Certified Correctional Health Professional, Certified Correctional Health Professional – Registered Nurse, Certified Corrections Nurse, or Certified Correctional Nurse/Manager credential preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  

  1. Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act for the licensing state and/or the state in which one practices nursing.  
  2. Knowledge of Organization Behavior and ability to communicate in a collaborative manner with executive staff and contracting partners to meet mission requirements
  3. Ability to assess and guide implementation of process improvements to ensure contract requirements are met in a timely manner. 
  4. Knowledge of team building principles. 
  5. Knowledge of staff development and basic adult learner teaching skills.  
  6. Knowledge of a wide range of complex nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform nursing assessments of considerable diversity to include mental health, medical surgical, ambulatory and emergency nursing care. 
  7. Knowledge of managing non-compliant patients, special needs populations, and patients with significant deficits in coping skills, thereby requiring continuing professional clinical support.  
  8. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.  
  9. Ability to utilize telephonic interpreter/translation services to complete assigned duties if not fluent in a language the patient understands.  
  10. Ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.  
  11. Ability to communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) in order to develop positive rapport with corporate executives, partners, co-workers and other stakeholders.  
  12. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.  
  13. Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web based training and communications.  
  14. Proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.  
  15. Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides oversight and direction of Nurse Managers and Charge Nurses who guide RNs, LVNs, medical assistants and technicians. Guide collaboration with Medical Records staff to ensure all required medical and nursing documentation requirements are met.  
  2. Guides Nurse Managers to plan, schedule, assign, and direct nursing care and evaluates efforts independently. 
  3. Mentors Nurse Managers and Charge Nurses to plan and/or collaborate patient care interventions with other health care professionals using in-depth knowledge of the specific patient’s status, anticipating physiological and/or psychological appropriate or adverse responses. 
  4. Evaluates and revises intake and clinic processes to implement patient treatment plans at appropriate intervals in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. 
  5. Reviews trends identified in patient records to assess treatment progress, adequacy of record keeping, and implementation of appropriate clinical guidelines. 
  6. Ensures Nurse Managers report all major changes of patient status to appropriate providers in a timely manner. 
  7. Meets regularly with multidisciplinary treatment team members to discuss proposed revisions in clinical flow and processes.  
  8. Serves as a liaison while maintaining collaborative relationships with members of other healthcare disciplines. 
  9. Ensures in-services are conducted on clinic processes, general and complex subjects with improvement of nursing and medical care as expected outcomes, specifically tailored to the environment of care.
  10. Coordinates nursing care with other onsite staff. 
  11. Coordinates the treatment and transport, if necessary, of acutely ill or injured patients.   
  12. Provides oversight for orientation and training of new nursing personnel to protocols, requirements, and the specifics of the patient population.   
  13. Ensures Staff Development Officer provides appropriate health teaching and counseling to provide reinforcement and guidance to minimize protocol deviations.  
  14. Serves as a team member for analyzing established protocol practices and identifying areas for improvement.   
  15. Participates with developing recommendations for improved efficiency of patient care.  
  16. Assists with program/project design activities, strategy development, problem resolution, and project implementation.  
  17. Performs duties as a Registered Nurse (see Registered Nurse Position Description) when required to meet the mission needs of the agency.  

DUTY HOURS / ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS  

  1. This facility operates 24/7/365. You may be required to respond telephonically during emergency call back roster activation.  
  2. This position is required to respond during an emergency activation. 
  3. This full-time position is required to be available telephonically and/or to report to the facility during non-core hours. 
  4. This full-time position is primarily a Day shift position but requires flexibility and availability for occasional night shifts; availability during weekends and holidays is also required. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

This work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking or jogging over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy patients or equipment.

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS AND VERIFICATION:

The Prime Contract requires that employees and representatives performing work on the Project be United States citizens or foreign citizens who are legally authorized to work in the United States. Subcontractor shall utilize the E[1]verify system in accordance with FAR 52.222-54 to verify employment eligibility.
