Instructor is responsible for the delivery of Forensics & Malware Analysis, Cyberspace Operations (CO) training to Department of Defense personnel at the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT), Corry Station, Pensacola, FL. 


This training is part of a larger program knowns as Joint Cyber Analysis Course or JCAC. This program prepares participants to work for the Maryland Procurement Office.


Deliver highly technical training in a military training environment consisting of lectures, labs, exercises, and other delivery methods. Assist with developing training curriculum which can include lecture content, student/instructor guides, exams, exercises, simulations, etc.


Mandatory Requirements:


Clearance Requirements:

  • A Top Secret/SCI security clearance based on a Tier 5 or Tier 5R (formerly known as SSBI and SSBI-PR/PPR respectively) background investigation.
  • A favorable CI or FS polygraph.



  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to conduct practical exercises in a laboratory environment, student study hall periods, and provide tutoring/remedial instruction for up to twenty students per class.
  • Posses the ability to incorporate/impart technical knowledge into their training delivery.
  • Ability to assess student knowledge and gauge student proficiency.
  • Deliver instruction via interactive synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.


Desired (preferred) Requirements:


  • It is preferable that clearance was adjudicated by the National Security Agency. DoDD
  • 8140.01/DoD 8570.01-M Level II certifications are desired, but not required.
  • Past MPO experience desired, but not required.
  • US Military instructor certification or designation is highly desirable (e.g., teaching certificate, certified professional instructor, master training specialist, adjunct faculty certification, etc.).
  • GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), Certified Reverse Engineering Analyst (CREA), EnCase, or GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) is desired


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus (2) years of experience in Cyberspace Operations (CO). 
  • In lieu of degree, (4) years of experience in Cyberspace Operations (CO). 
  • Experience in adult learning with emphasis on providing instruction to large classes. 


Unless otherwise stated, applicant should have intermediate-level knowledge/experience in the following areas:

  • NTFS/EXT file systems (Advanced Level):
    • Understand file system structure and layout.
    • Understand how to navigate and search the file system for files of interest during an investigation.
  • Identify common malware types based on activity/traits (Advanced Level):
    • Must possess the ability to conduct analysis (dynamic or static) on a file and identify the type of malware present to include understanding how the malware operates.
  • Forensics tools:
    • Must be familiar with the following tools and the basic techniques used to conduct an investigation. Should be familiar with general concepts (keyword search, file system navigation, locating hidden files, file extraction, etc):
      • EnCase
      • Sleuth Kit
      • Helix
  • Malware tools:
    • Must be familiar with the following common tools used to conduct malware analysis in a static or dynamic environment. Should be familiar with common useage of the tools and be able to explain what each tool does and why it is used:
      • Process explorer
      • Process monitor
      • Regshot
      • OllyDbg
      • IDA Pro
      • Wireshark


  • Additional experience, educational, or certification recommendations beyond those listed above:
    • 3-5 years as a Forensics or Malware Analyst
