Estimator (Fire)

Responsibilities:
· Demonstrated ability in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
· The ability to provide detailed material and labor cost estimates.
· Proficient in reading and understanding RFP documents, contract specifications, technology, architectural and electrical drawings.
· The ability to review any local, state, and federal codes and interpret these codes as related to the project.
· Communicates with department (Sales/Operations) personnel to understand and define the project scope for integration.
· Meet with client to determine needs and formulate design. Complete site evaluation to determine client requirements and design specifications- Prepare engineering analysis of project to include initial system design through various phases of engineering review to final system design,
· calculations, and integration documentation.
· Interpret and prepare blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical construction specifications.
· Manage engineering project schedule, propose changes to project, material selection and overall project costs.
· Create drawings for Fire systems including line diagrams, facility floor plans, elevations, sections, panel details, rack elevations, and all other drawings required for successful project completion and coordination
· Create the final bill of materials for final system design.
Qualifications:
· A complete understanding of the principles of fire alarm systems, NFPA 72, NEC & IBC, and all codes relating to Fire Alarm systems.
· Notifier / Edwards Products
· Demonstrated ability in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
· The ability to provide detailed material and labor cost estimates.
· Understanding of sprinkler and mechanical HVAC systems and their integration with fire alarm systems.
· Proficient in reading and understanding RFP documents, contract specifications, life safety, architectural and electrical drawings.
· The ability to review any local, state, or federal codes and interpret these codes related to a project
Additional Qualifications:
· Knowledge of modern Fire system design including:
· Design and provide cost estimates for Fire Alarm systems Notifier / Edwards.
· Develop bill of materials, battery calculations, and sequence of operations.
· Coordinate engineering deliverable schedule with project manager
· Prepare design documents, specifications, and drawings required for design/build projects.
· Survey existing fire alarm systems and provide detailed upgrade or replacement information.
· Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to make technical presentations. This includes interfacing effectively with customers, peers, and executive level management.
· Excellent organization and planning skills, able to set priorities to accomplish tasks.
· Ability to execute results against deadlines.
· Ability to solve technical problems, make recommendations and provide solutions.
· Knowledge of general construction and the construction process
· Knowledge of IP network design and architecture.
· 2D drafting in AutoCAD for architectural coordination and system interconnection.
· High level abilities in MS Office Suite, specifically, MS Excel, MS Word
· NICET level III-IV
