The Aircraft Mechanic (LUH-72) is responsible for maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring聽equipment condition and operation.

Pay: $38.75/hr

Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Proficient in the use of the Government STAMIS used to maintain Army aircraft forms and records.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Plans, conducts, and supervises aircraft technical inspections.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Computes basic weight and balance records.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Ensures compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program, and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Provides guidance to lower-level technicians in aircraft repair, technical inspection techniques, and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards, and operational policies.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Prioritize workloads and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanic.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Mechanic applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.聽聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Uses a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Uses a knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Uses a working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records.聽Receives technical assistance, as required, from higher-level technician.聽

Minimum Requirements

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Shall have a valid up-to-date A&P license and have Five (5) years aviation maintenance experience, Five (5) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned Mission Design Series LUH-72 (MDS).

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽All experience must be within the Ten (10) most recent years.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret Clearance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Must possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts: requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Required to have basic knowledge of electrical theory.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army’s Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ACN.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Shall have the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽Shall have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.

Preferred Qualifications

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
