The Field Liaison Engineer is responsible for coordination of Aircraft Connectivity System integration activities, including the developmental coordination activities, system design modeling and risk identification to enable early detection of cross-discipline issues. This is an experienced-level position with minimal supervisory responsibility that reports to Engineering management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support aircraft Satcom/connectivity customers in the field.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems in lab environment or on aircraft, to determine/ resolve issues.
  • Fluent with multi-meters, AC/DC power equipment, spectrum & signal analyzers.
  • Understanding of usage of electrical and mechanical tooling.
  • Verification and Validation Support of System Performance.
  • Maintains and grows knowledge of relevant systems (software/hardware/design/test).
  • Works with Independent Verification and Validation (IVV) resources to develop robust methods for developing and testing System functions.
  • Cross team coordination to ensure various disciplines develop quality designs for the required system needs.
  • Responsible for Systems testing, analysis and technical documentation.
  • Conduct the necessary briefings to stakeholders, of identified risks and their potential impacts.
  • Keeps aware of project goals and coordinates solutions toward delivering on project requirements.
  • Remains cognizant of industry regulatory means and methods.
  • Follows Company Standard Operating Procedures, AS9100 QMS and provides feedback on improvements.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical design and troubleshooting within the aerospace/ aircraft industry; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with avionics is required
  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (with Passport) and eligible for employment on U.S. government projects.
  • An understanding of aircraft engineering and systems engineering functions, procedures, standards and methods required.
  • Satcom Systems architecture knowledge and troubleshooting experience required.
  • Avionics Technology or Avionics Installation experience required.
  • Airframe & Powerplant Certificate (preferred).
  • FAA Repairman Certificate (preferred).
  • Additional FAA or CAA training and/or seminars (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient in full MS Office Suite, MS Dos, Linux, etc.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, electrical/ mechanical tooling, and safety gear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to inclement weather, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Additionally, the duties will require embarking/ disembarking small & large aircraft and accessing tight areas within the aircraft, as required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands/fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • The employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Light work; exerts up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employees’ eyes will be exposed to many hours daily looking at desktop monitor screens.

Travel:

  • Travel will be required (25% – 50%), depending on customer requirements/requests.
  • Will rotate to/from the field to equalize home base, remote, and abroad support.

Pay: Starting at $50 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift; 40 hour work week
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • OT may be available but not guaranteed
