Job Description

Job Title: Secret Cleared Licensed Electrician – DoD Site Survey Support

Summary:  

The Licensed Electrician supports site surveys across multiple DoD bases, focusing on surveying electrical panels in Telecommunication Rooms. This is a 100% travel role, open to candidates living anywhere in the U.S. Initial assignments may include Vance AFB, Holloman AFB, Laughlin AFB, JBSA Lackland, and JBSA Randolph. This is a short‑term contract through October 2026, with strong potential for extension.

Position Overview

The Electrician performs installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electrical systems in accordance with DoD requirements, electrical codes, and project specifications. Work includes both survey support and hands‑on electrical tasks in telecom and mission‑critical environments.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Assemble and maintain wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, and components using electrical blueprints.
  • Install and mount controls, devices, panels, sensors, and related components.
  • Perform interlock wiring and verify proper operation.
  • Test electrical systems, continuity, and load usage at breaker panels.
  • Inspect installation sites, review work orders, building plans, and manuals to determine materials and procedures.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Read and interpret contract drawings.
  • Troubleshoot EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays.
  • Support site surveys of electrical panels in telecom rooms across multiple bases.

🎓 Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance (required).
  • Journeyman Electrician License (required).
  • 10 years of electrical industry experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime, including nights and weekends.
  • 100% travel required.

Preferred Experience

  • Leading installation teams on complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Conducting and documenting daily toolbox talks, ORMs, and Safety Audits.
  • Installing head‑end equipment for access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems.
  • Performing takeoffs from project drawings.
  • Documenting daily reports, tracking progress, and forecasting/managing labor hours.

🏗️ Working Conditions

  • Physically demanding work in outdoor environments including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Work at extreme heights, in construction zones, switchgear rooms, manholes, tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics.
  • Access work areas using OSHA‑approved ladders or under‑construction stairs.
  • Flexible hours with overtime, weekend, and night shifts as needed.
  • Work in the presence of customers while maintaining a professional, courteous demeanor.

💪 Physical & Cognitive Abilities

  • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Move and position a 12‑foot stepladder unassisted.
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet on scaffolds, lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Perform repetitive physical motions: walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and overhead reaching.
  • Possess good vision (corrected acceptable), color vision, hearing, and English communication skills.
  • Use ladders safely while carrying tools.
  • Identify problems early and apply general rules to specific issues.
  • Synthesize information to form logical conclusions.
  • Strong close‑range detail recognition and listening comprehension.

  • Candidate may live anywhere in the U.S.
  • Initial bases may include:

  • JBSA Lackland
  • JBSA Randolph
