Meeting Veterans Where They Are: Loyal Source at the 107th American Legion National Convention

When thousands of Veterans gathered for the 107th American Legion National Convention, they came together to connect with organizations, resources, and advocates dedicated to helping them access the benefits and support they have earned through service.

For Loyal Source Government Services, the event was an opportunity to engage directly with Veterans, support the Medical Disability Examinations (MDE) process, and better understand the needs of the Veteran community.

Bringing Services Directly to Veterans

A highlight of the convention was Loyal Source’s Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), which brought examination services directly to attendees.

During the event, the MMU provided services to approximately 70 Veterans, supporting a range of disability claim needs through psychology telehealth evaluations, audiology services, diagnostic testing, and general medical examinations.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Veterans expressed appreciation for the convenience of completing important steps in the claims process onsite, while many also praised the MMU’s wheelchair-accessible design and ability to accommodate individuals with mobility challenges.

Listening and Learning

Beyond providing services, the convention offered an important opportunity to hear directly from Veterans.

Throughout the event, attendees shared a common message: They want greater access to disability-related services in their communities. Many expressed interest in expanding similar mobile capabilities to additional locations, helping reduce travel requirements and other barriers to care.

Veterans also highlighted the importance of outreach and awareness to help ensure more former service members understand the benefits, services, and resources available to them.

“My biggest takeaway from the American Legion National Convention was the extraordinary passion and commitment demonstrated by the organization and its members in advocating for Veterans’ benefits and improving access to care and services nationwide,” said Larry Lacefield, Vice President of Loyal Source’s Medical Disability Examinations (MDE) Program. “Those conversations reinforced the importance of continuing to find new ways to connect Veterans with the support and resources they have earned through their service.”

Advancing Support for Veterans

The convention brought together Veterans from across the country and beyond to access information, services, and support. Throughout the event, discussions focused on improving access to care, increasing awareness of available resources, and identifying new ways to better serve the Veteran community.

For Loyal Source, those conversations reinforced the importance of continuing to explore innovative solutions that help connect Veterans with the benefits and services they have earned.

Looking Ahead

The positive response to Loyal Source’s Mobile Medical Unit reinforced the value of bringing services directly to Veterans. As Loyal Source looks ahead, the organization remains committed to reducing barriers, improving accessibility, and helping connect Veterans with the resources and support they deserve.
