Tech PMO Manager Level I

Job Description

The PMO Manager I is responsible for leading a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts while overseeing the successful delivery of projects that support organizational objectives. This role provides leadership for project execution, governance, portfolio reporting, stakeholder engagement, and resource management. The PMO Manager I partners closely with business and technology leaders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, risks are managed proactively, and project outcomes align with strategic priorities.

This role operates across project delivery, team leadership, portfolio management, and process improvement disciplines while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Given Loyal Source's environment and your TPMO maturity initiative, a PMO Manager with 3 PMs and 1 BA would typically be positioned as a managerial leadership role, sitting between individual project managers and TPMO leadership, with responsibility for both people management and project portfolio oversight.

Pay: $125,000 annually

Duties and Functions

·      Manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously across business and technology functions

·      Facilitate project intake, prioritization, and governance processes

·      Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource forecasts

·      Coordinate project activities across business, technology, vendors, and external partners

·      Lead project status meetings, steering committee reviews, and stakeholder communications

·      Monitor project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation activities

·      Escalate project concerns and recommendations to leadership as appropriate

·      Track project budgets, timelines, deliverables, and key performance indicators

·      Ensure adherence to organizational project management methodologies and governance standards

·      Develop executive-level project status reporting and portfolio dashboards

·      Support change management and communication activities associated with project delivery

·      Facilitate requirements gathering, scope management, and stakeholder alignment

·      Identify opportunities for process improvement and project management maturity advancement

·      Maintain project documentation, artifacts, and governance records

·      Partner with the TPMO leadership team to support portfolio management and strategic initiatives

Education and Experience

·      Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, or related field preferred

·      5-8 years of project management experience

·      2-3 years managing complex cross-functional projects

·      Experience working with executive leaders and business stakeholders

·      Experience managing technology, business transformation, or operational improvement projects

·      Experience with project governance and reporting processes

·      Experience coordinating third-party vendors and implementation partners

Preferred Requirements

·      PMP Certification or equivalent project management certification

·      Agile, Scrum, or SAFe certification

·      Experience supporting PMO or TPMO organizations

·      Experience managing enterprise technology projects

·      Experience with portfolio management processes and governance frameworks

·      Experience utilizing project management and reporting tools

·      Familiarity with CMMI, PMBOK, Agile, or hybrid delivery methodologies

·      Experience supporting organizational change management activities

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises a team consisting of three Project Managers and one Business Analyst.

Responsible for employee performance management, coaching, development planning, and workload prioritization.

Provides leadership and direction for project delivery, governance activities, and portfolio reporting.

Ensures alignment of project resources with organizational priorities and strategic objectives.

Establishes performance expectations, project management standards, and accountability across the PMO team.

Supports recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and retention of project management staff.

Facilitates collaboration between project teams, business stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendors.

Promotes continuous improvement of project management methodologies, governance processes, and delivery practices.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
