Quality Assurance Audit Manager
Job Description
Summary
The Manager of Quality Assurance Auditing provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management for a team of Quality Assurance (QA) Auditors responsible for conducting independent, corporate‑level site assessments. These audits evaluate compliance with contractual requirements, Performance Work Statement (PWS) obligations, operational workflows, quality standards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) across program offices and medical clinic environments.
Pay Rate: $100,000 / year
Duties and Functions
Leadership & Oversight
– Lead and manage QA Auditors responsible for conducting independent site assessments for compliance with contractual, programmatic, and KPI obligations.
– Assign, prioritize, and coordinate auditor schedules across multiple locations and programs.
– Ensure auditors perform complete in‑briefs, onsite observations, exit briefings, and produce high‑quality assessment documentation.
– Review and approve audit reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with quality standards.
– Provide day‑to‑day direction, escalation support, and decision-making for complex audit or compliance issues.
Travel Scheduling & Logistics Management
– Coordinate and approve all auditor travel schedules in alignment with audit priorities and program needs.
– Maintain a centralized audit and travel calendar that optimizes geographic routing, coverage, and cost efficiency.
– Support auditors with short‑notice or urgent travel assignments as required by operational demands.
– Collaborate with internal travel resources or vendors to secure timely bookings for transportation and lodging.
– Monitor travel‑related risks such as weather, safety concerns, and logistical challenges, adjusting schedules proactively.
– Track travel utilization, frequency, and costs to support budget planning and operational forecasting.
– Ensure consistent adherence to organizational travel policies and procedures.
Quality Program Management
– Ensure audit methodologies, checklists, and protocols remain current and aligned with industry regulations and standards.
– Oversee identification of trends, risks, and improvement opportunities through analysis of audit findings.
– Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and validation of corrective action plans and risk mitigation strategies.
– Support routine updates of inspection procedures, training materials, and documentation to reflect new requirements.
– Collaborate with Quality leadership and program teams to drive continual improvement of the audit process and outcomes.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
– Serve as a primary point of contact for internal leadership, program management, and other departments.
– Provide strategic insight and guidance on audit observations that impact program performance, risk exposure, and customer satisfaction.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
– Conduct onsite oversight and joint assessments to observe auditor performance and ensure adherence to QA methodologies.
– Analyze audit data to identify systemic issues, recurring challenges, and efficiency opportunities.
– Prepare summary reporting, dashboards, and executive‑level presentations on quality trends and audit outcomes.
Team Development
– Coach, mentor, and develop auditors to strengthen proficiency in audit techniques, data analysis, report writing, and root cause analysis.
– Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous quality improvement within the QA team.
– Provide onboarding and ongoing training for staff related to quality standards, program requirements, and operational expectations.
Education and Experience
– Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
– Minimum 5 years of quality assurance, auditing, or healthcare operations experience.
– Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
– Experience in healthcare, government contracting, or federally regulated environments preferred.
– Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or Gemba Walk experience preferred.
Preferred Requirements
Experience working within large-scale healthcare, government, or federally regulated programs, including agencies such as CBP, VA, DoD, CDC, HHS, or similar organizations.
Demonstrated experience developing or enhancing quality inspection protocols, audit checklists, or PWS‑driven compliance frameworks.
Certification(s) in Quality or Process Improvement (e.g., CQA, CQE, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, NAHQ CPHQ).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Knowledge: Quality control, quality assurance, and program management principles across healthcare, government, and operational environments.
Skills: Audit methodologies, data analysis, root cause analysis, technical writing, briefing, and stakeholder communication.
Abilities: Work independently in diverse onsite environments and travel extensively; perform high‑level trend analysis; manage multiple priorities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will supervise a team of QA Auditors.
Work Environment/Condition
– Work is primarily remote, with required onsite assessments in office, clinic, or healthcare environments. Travel is expected to range from 25% to 50%.
Physical Demands
– Travel may include long periods of walking or standing, multiple transportation modes, varying weather conditions, and short‑notice deployment.
