Job Description
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tanium Administrator to manage and optimize the use of the Tanium platform in a cloud-only environment comprising over 1,000 endpoints. The ideal candidate will be responsible for utilizing Tanium to manage software deployments, policy enforcement, updates, and security measures. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining the health and security of our IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and compliance.
Duties and Functions
Key Responsibilities:
- Tanium Administration:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Tanium platform across all endpoints in the cloud environment.
- Ensure the Tanium platform is up-to-date, secure, and operating efficiently to meet organizational requirements.
- Conduct regular health checks on the Tanium platform to identify and resolve potential issues.
- Manage platform upgrades and new feature rollouts to ensure minimal downtime.
- Maintain proper documentation for Tanium configurations and procedures.
- Software Management:
- Manage and automate the deployment of software applications, updates, and patches using Tanium.
- Perform regular audits of software inventory to ensure proper licensing and compliance.
- Develop and implement workflows for automated software rollouts across multiple endpoints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software deployment and updates.
- Coordinate with vendors and teams for third-party application integrations.
- Policy Enforcement:
- Define, implement, and monitor endpoint policies through Tanium to ensure security and compliance.
- Regularly review and update policies to align with changing business and security requirements.
- Conduct policy testing in a controlled environment before organization-wide implementation.
- Track and report policy violations to stakeholders and recommend remediation steps.
- Ensure consistency in policy enforcement across all endpoints and user groups.
- Security and Threat Response:
- Utilize the Tanium Threat Response module to proactively monitor potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct root cause analysis for security incidents and implement corrective measures.
- Develop and execute response plans for detected threats, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
- Collaborate with the security team to align threat response strategies with organizational goals.
- Stay updated on emerging security threats and implement preventive measures.
- Compliance Management:
- Use the Tanium Comply module to conduct regular compliance assessments against industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
- Generate detailed compliance reports and work with relevant teams to address non-compliance issues.
- Develop compliance checklists and workflows for faster remediation.
- Conduct training sessions for teams on compliance best practices and requirements.
- Establish a proactive compliance monitoring framework to prevent future violations.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain custom dashboards to provide real-time visibility into endpoint health, performance, and security metrics.
- Generate periodic reports for stakeholders on system status, compliance, and threat management activities.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of Tanium solutions.
- Provide detailed post-incident analysis and reports with actionable recommendations.
- Automate report generation and distribution to streamline processes.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with IT, Security, and Compliance teams to align Tanium configurations and operations with organizational goals.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations during planning and implementation of IT projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Tanium-related queries and support.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and training sessions for team members.
- Coordinate with external vendors and support teams for issue resolution and best practices.
- Optimization:
- Continuously assess and improve Tanium workflows, scripts, and configurations to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks or issues affecting the platform’s effectiveness.
- Conduct regular performance benchmarking and tuning of the Tanium platform.
- Explore and implement new features to maximize the value of Tanium in meeting organizational needs.
- Maintain a roadmap for Tanium-related improvements and upgrades.
Pay Rate: $115,000/salary
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
3-5 years of experience as a Tanium Cloud Administrator or Engineer
Preferred Requirements
Azure cloud tenant administration experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
- Tanium Certified Operator
- Tanium Certified Administrator
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise with the Tanium platform, including in-depth knowledge of the Comply and Threat Response modules.
- Certifications: Tanium certifications (e.g., Tanium Certified Operator, Tanium Certified Administrator) are highly desirable.
- Cloud Environment: Strong familiarity with managing IT operations in a cloud-only environment.
- Security Knowledge: Understanding of security best practices, incident response, and compliance frameworks.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.

Work Environment/Condition
An indoor office space with proper lighting and climate-controlled setting. This role would be located either within the LSGS HQ space or remote.
Physical Demands
1. Lifting and Carrying:
• Ability to lift and carry equipment such as servers, desktop computers, monitors, and networking hardware (typically up to 50 lbs).
2. Standing and Walking:
• Prolonged periods of standing or walking during tasks such as setting up workstations, troubleshooting hardware in server rooms, or conducting site inspections.
3. Bending, Kneeling, and Crawling:
• Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch when installing or repairing hardware under desks, in server racks, or in confined spaces.
4. Manual Dexterity:
• Fine motor skills required to handle small components, cables, and tools while installing or repairing hardware.
5. Climbing:
• Occasionally climbing ladders or working at elevated heights to access network cabling or ceiling-mounted equipment.
6. Vision Requirements:
• Close vision to work on small hardware components and read computer screens or documentation.
• Color vision may be necessary for tasks like cable management or identifying color-coded components.
7. Sitting for Extended Periods:
• Prolonged periods of sitting while working on computers, troubleshooting software, or performing administrative tasks.
