Director of Capacity

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Capacity is responsible for providing program oversight on all functions related to capacity and throughput. This role involves supervising key managers and ensuring resources are optimally aligned to meet production and timeliness performance metrics. The Director of Capacity will have a comprehensive understanding of all clinic and network partner resources within the assigned region and will liaise with various departments to ensure seamless operations.

Pay: $130,000

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Provide program oversight on all functions related to capacity and throughput.
  • Supervise the Operations Manager’s.
  • Ensure resources are aligned to meet production and timeliness performance metrics.
  • Have a complete understanding of all clinics and network partner resources within the assigned region.
  • Liaise with Recruitment, Area Managers, Clinic Managers, Provider Liaisons, Examiner Support, and Case Management.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business intelligence, reporting, and data management tools; leverage complex data analysis, forecasting, trend identification, capacity modeling, and performance metrics to drive strategic capacity decisions, optimize resource allocation, and support achievement of production and timeliness objectives.
  • Champion and embrace the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to enhance operational effectiveness, improve decision-making, identify capacity risks and opportunities, automate routine processes, and generate data-driven insights that support strategic planning, resource optimization, production goals, and continuous process improvement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· BA/BS in a related field or associate's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant MDE, VA, or active-duty military experience.

· Extensive understanding of capacity and throughput management.

· Proficiency in using mapping tools, Microsoft Suite, and data analytics.

· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people from diverse backgrounds across multiple workstreams.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

· MBA

· 5 years' experience in relevant VA Medical Disability Exam performance, large scale federal operational performance, healthcare operations or similar healthcare management.

· Proven success in working in a team environment across multiple geographic regions

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

Knowledge

  • · Knowledge of capacity planning, throughput management, production performance, and timeliness metrics within healthcare, MDE, VA, federal operations, or a similar operational environment.
  • · Knowledge of clinic operations, network partner resources, provider coverage, examiner support, case management workflows, and cross-functional operational dependencies.
  • · Knowledge of data analytics, forecasting, performance reporting, mapping tools, business intelligence tools, and responsible use of AI or emerging technologies to support operational decision-making.

Skills

  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel, data analysis, reporting, forecasting, trend identification, and capacity modeling.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, relationship management, and multitasking skills across multiple departments, regions, and workstreams.
  • Skill in identifying operational risks, analyzing performance gaps, developing action plans, and supporting continuous process improvement.

Abilities

  • Ability to oversee regional capacity functions, align resources to production needs, and drive achievement of operational performance goals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Recruitment, Area Managers, Clinic Managers, Provider Liaisons, Examiner Support, Case Management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions, adapt to changing operational priorities, manage competing demands, and maintain accountability in a remote work environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise the Operations Manager(s) in their respective region.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITION

This position may be performed either in a professional office environment or from a remote home office, depending on the employee's location. Location of work will be confirmed during the time of interview based on location of residence.

The role requires the use of standard office equipment, including a computer, phone, keyboard, mouse, and other technology necessary to perform job duties. Occasional travel may be required, including air travel for meetings, training, operational support, or other business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work. The employee must be able to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, phone, and other standard office equipment.

The employee must also be able to occasionally travel by plane, as business needs require. Additionally, the employee must be able to lift up to 15 pounds on occasion.
