Job Description
Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 1 full-time Inpatient/Outpatient Medical Records Technician (MRT) Coder Lead to provide remote services to the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System located in Cleveland, OH.
Job Summary: Inpatient/Outpatient Medical Records Technician Coder Lead must be efficient, motivated, focuses on patient care with our Veteran population. MRT Coder Leads are expected to maintain a high degree of accurate productivity and performance while working with our VA community at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System in Cleveland, OH. MRT Coder Leads are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals.
Pay Rate: $39.94/hr
Duties:
· Review coding and assist Coder in ensuring timeliness and improving coding accuracy
· Provide coding guidance to various levels of staff to promote consistency in practice and compliance with coding rules and regulations
· Initiate, prepare, and maintain various reports, and analyze data
· Coordinate, assign and monitor workflow
· Provide input for performance evaluations and hiring
· Orient and instruct new coding personnel and/or students on coding, abstracting and use of the electronic health record and encoder software
· Ensure audit findings and claim denials related to coding errors are resolved and/or daily coding rejections corrected for accurate billing and data collection
· Monitor trends and/or changes in regulatory and policy requirements affecting coding practices and identify educational needs.
· Develop coding training materials and present a curriculum encompassing ongoing training initiates.
· Aid with coding inquiries from providers, coders, billers, and other facility staff
· The Coder lead is a supportive role for the Inpatient and Outpatient Coding Supervisor(s)
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 2 years of continuous professional coding experience in a VA facility
- Must have 2 years of experience in International Classification of Diseases, Current Procedural Terminology, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System
- Completed the baseline International Classification of Diseases, 10th edition requirements
- Must have 2 years of training experience in reviewing records in large tertiary care hospitals, and outpatient health care organizations
- Must have 3 years of education and training experience
- One current coding certification
- AHIMA
- AAPC (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P,CPC, COC, CIC)
· Ability to code across all major inpatient, outpatient, and surgical specialties
Shifts:
- Monday – Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. local time
