HR Functional Analyst II – Workday HCM

Summary

The HR Functional Analyst II – HR & Workday is responsible for supporting, configuring, and optimizing the organization’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform and related HR processes. This role partners closely with Human Resources and Information Technology to translate business needs into scalable, compliant, and user-friendly system solutions.

At the Level II, this role operates 40 hours/5 days a week and independently on moderately complex initiatives, owns defined functional areas, and plays a critical role in maintaining stability, integrity, and continuous improvement of the HR technology ecosystem.

Duties and Functions

• Serve as a functional analyst for Workday HCM and related HR processes

• Partner with HR stakeholders across Core HCM, Recruiting, Time & Absence, Benefits, Business Process Framework, and Security.

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements; translate them into functional designs and configurations.

• Configure and maintain Workday business processes, eligibility rules, condition rules, calculated fields, and validations.

• Support role-based security, domain access, and business process security policies.

• Support Workday quarterly releases, including impact analysis, testing, and stakeholder communication.

• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend long-term solutions.

• Create and maintain functional documentation, process flows, and job aids.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Required 3–6 years of experience as an HR Functional Analyst, HRIS Analyst, or similar systems analyst role.

• Hands-on experience supporting Workday HCM in a production environment.

• Strong understanding of core HR processes and data structures.

• Experience with requirements gathering, functional documentation, and system testing.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

Experience across multiple Workday modules (HCM, Recruiting, Time & Absence, Benefits).

• Workday certification(s) (HCM, Recruiting, Time Tracking) preferred but not required.

• Experience with Workday security and business process framework.

• Familiarity with IT governance, change management, or release management frameworks.

• HRIS, HR, or technology certifications (Workday, SHRM, HRCI) a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

• Independently support assigned Workday functional areas.

• Deliver standard enhancements and configurations with minimal supervision.

• Act as a trusted functional partner to HR stakeholders.

• Support or mentor junior analysts as needed.

• Proactively identify risks, data issues, and process improvement opportunities.

Work Environment/Condition

This position is primarily remote and is performed in a home‑based office environment. The employee is expected to maintain a dedicated, secure, and reliable workspace that supports productivity and confidentiality. Work is conducted indoors in a climate‑controlled setting with standard office lighting and equipment.

The role requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, headset, and other standard IT tools for extended periods. Employees must have reliable high‑speed internet access and be available during established business hours, with flexibility to support system maintenance, releases, or critical incidents outside of normal hours as needed.

Collaboration occurs virtually through video conferencing, messaging platforms, and ticketing systems. Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, training, go‑live support, or business needs, though travel is expected to be minimal and infrequent.Physical Demands

Pay Rate: $105,000/salary
