Job Description
Summary
The Senior Manager, PMO is accountable for leading and maturing the Project Management Office that delivers technology focused initiatives across the applications and data ecosystem. This role provides direct leadership to Project Managers and Business Analysts, institutionalizes PMO standards, and ensures consistent, predictable delivery of complex technical initiatives—including those spanning enterprise applications such as Workday, Salesforce, reporting/analytics, and data platforms.
The Senior Manager balances hands on leadership, governance, and cross functional influence, partnering closely with IT leadership, architecture, data, reporting, and increasingly business-owned application teams to ensure initiatives are delivered with clarity, discipline, and measurable outcomes.
Reporting Relationship
· Reports to: VP of Enterprise Applications
· Works closely with:
o Application owners (IT and business‑aligned)
o Enterprise/Data Architecture
o Reporting & Analytics
o Security, Compliance, and Governance bodies
Duties and Functions
PMO Leadership & People Management
§ Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and performance management for PMs and BAs.
§ Build a high‑functioning PMO culture focused on accountability, transparency, and delivery quality.
§ Set clear expectations for role boundaries, ownership, and decision‑making across PM and BA functions.
§ Mentor team members on technical project delivery, stakeholder management, and organizational standards.
PMO Standards, Governance & Maturity
- Own, enforce, and continuously improve PMO standards, including:
§ Project intake and triage
§ Planning and estimation
§ Requirements and scope management
§ Status reporting and executive visibility
§ Risk, issue, and dependency management
§ Project closure and outcomes reporting
- Operationalize and scale standards already developed within the organization, ensuring:
§ Consistent adoption across teams
§ Practical application (not “process for process’ sake”)
§ Audit‑defensible documentation where required
- Serve as the primary steward of PMO templates, artifacts, and delivery playbooks.
Delivery Oversight & Portfolio Execution
- Provide oversight and direction for technical delivery initiatives, ensuring:
§ Projects are appropriately scoped, planned, and resourced
§ Dependencies across applications, data, and reporting are identified early
§ Delivery risk is actively managed and escalated when necessary
- Partner with Application and Platform leaders to coordinate delivery across the organization.
- Balance delivery agility with enterprise governance, supporting hybrid Agile / Waterfall models as appropriate.
Planning, Tooling & Execution Alignment
- Ensure effective and consistent use of PMO tooling, including:
§ Microsoft Project for integrated planning, sequencing, and dependency management
§ Azure DevOps / Azure Boards for execution tracking, backlog management, and delivery transparency
- Maintain alignment between long‑range planning, active delivery, and execution‑level work.
- Establish and monitor delivery health metrics (schedule predictability, scope stability, risk trends).
Cross‑Organization PMO Initiatives
- Support broader PMO initiatives beyond the core apps environment as organizational needs evolve, including:
§ Enterprise delivery maturity assessments
§ Intake governance improvements
§ Standardization across technology domains
- Act as a trusted delivery advisor to technical and business leaders for complex or high‑risk initiatives.
Stakeholder Leadership & Communication
- Serve as a senior‑level escalation point for delivery risks, scope decisions, and resourcing challenges.
- Translate technical delivery realities into clear, executive‑ready communication.
- Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders as technology ownership becomes more federated, particularly in platforms like Salesforce.

- PMs and BAs operate with consistent expectations and high confidence.
- Strong partnership established with application and business leaders, including Salesforce stakeholders.
Education and Experience
· 8–12+ years of experience in project/program management or PMO leadership within a technology environment.
· Prior experience managing Project Managers and/or Business Analysts.
· Strong background delivering technical initiatives, including applications, data, and reporting programs.
Preferred Requirements
· Experience delivering or governing work within enterprise SaaS platforms.
· Familiarity with data and reporting ecosystems (Power BI, data warehouses, integrations).
· Exposure to compliance‑driven or audit‑sensitive delivery environments.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Position Scope & Leveling Notes
This is a senior individual‑contributor leader role with people management responsibilities, expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and judgment. The role emphasizes execution excellence, governance maturity, and organizational enablement rather than portfolio administration alone.
· Hands‑on experience with:
§ Microsoft Project
§ Azure DevOps / Azure Boards
· Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and enforcing PMO standards in a growing or maturing organization.
· Proven ability to operate effectively in hybrid delivery environments (Agile/Kanban/Waterfall).
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Direct reports:
o Two Project Managers
o One Business Analyst
Work Environment/Condition
An indoor office space with proper lighting and climate-controlled setting.
