Summary

Reporting to the Network Operations Director, this role includes leadership and supervisory responsibilities to support the organization’s network initiatives. The ideal candidate will assist in designing, implementing, and managing secure, reliable, and efficient network solutions across multiple sites while contributing to strategic planning and the mentorship of junior team members.

Duties and Functions

Leadership & Supervision

Under the direction of the Director of Network Operations, lead and guide a team of network administrators and technicians to deliver high-performance network solutions.

 

Assist the Director of Network Operations in coordinating and overseeing daily network operations, troubleshooting efforts, and ongoing projects.

 

Mentor and support junior staff members, fostering professional growth and skill development.

 

Strategic Planning

Collaborate with the Director of Network Operations to develop and implement a strategic vision for the organization's network infrastructure in alignment with business goals.

 

Participate in planning, designing, and executing network projects, including upgrades, expansions, and technology migrations.

 

Evaluate current network performance and scalability, providing recommendations to the Director of Network Operations for improvements.

 

Technical Expertise

Must have expert level of knowledge on traditional Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and at least one of the following: Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Aruba Central, Zscaler or Palo Alto Panorama. It is critical that the candidate be able to contribute and communicate both verbally and in writing an expert level knowledge on Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls on day one.

 

Design, configure, and maintain Aruba access points and switches, ensuring optimal network performance and scalability.

 

Implement, configure, and troubleshoot Zscaler cloud security solutions to enforce internet security and access policies.

 

Deploy and manage Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN for secure, scalable connectivity across remote locations.

 

Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.

 

Ensure compliance with the latest network security protocols and industry standards.

 

Design and manage cloud networking solutions on platforms such as Azure.

 

Proactively ensure that projects meet deadlines.

 

Implement and manage advanced network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security solutions.

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Work closely with the Director of Network Operations, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to align network infrastructure with organizational needs.

 

Serve as an escalation point for network-related issues, providing clear and timely updates to the Director of Network Operations and other leaders as needed.

 

Documentation & Reporting

Assist the Director of Network Operations in maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of network designs, configurations, operations, and processes.

 

Prepare reports on network performance, capacity planning, and incident management as directed by the Director of Network Operations.

 

 

Continuous Improvement

Stay informed about emerging network technologies and industry trends, implementing innovative solutions under the guidance of the Director of Network Operations.

 

Develop and enforce best practices for network operations, troubleshooting, and change management.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

 

5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Zscaler, Aruba Central, Aruba APs, Aruba switches and Microsoft Azure Networking.

 

Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions, especially Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN.

 

Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls managed by Palo Alto Panorama.

 

Proven experience supporting network projects and providing guidance to junior staff under a manager’s direction.

 

Expertise in network security technologies, protocols, and wireless network infrastructure, particularly Aruba APs.

 

Familiarity with cloud-based security solutions, particularly Zscaler.

  

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.

 

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and under managerial supervision.

Preferred Requirements

Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent

 

Aruba Certified Switching Professional (ACSP) or equivalent.

 

Zscaler Certified Cloud Professional (ZCCP) or equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

5+ years of experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)

 

5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on Aruba APs, Aruba switches, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN (or other vendors equivalent offerings).

 

Proven experience supporting network projects and providing guidance to junior staff under a manager’s direction.

 

Expertise in network security technologies, protocols, and wireless network infrastructure, particularly Aruba APs.

 

Familiarity with cloud-based security solutions, particularly Zscaler.

 

Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions, especially Palo Alto Prisma.

 

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.

 

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and under managerial supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position would be responsible for supervising the Network Team.

Work Environment/Condition

An indoor office space with proper lighting and climate-controlled setting.

Physical Demands

On occasion this position might require climbing a ladder to mount network equipment and cabling. On occasion lifting of up to 50 pounds would be required.
