Power BI Analyst II

Job Description

Summary

The Power BI Analyst II is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and data visualization solutions across Loyal Source Government Services' Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and SQL Server environments. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and technology teams to transform data into actionable insights that support strategic, operational, and executive decision-making.

The ideal candidate possesses advanced Power BI development skills, strong SQL expertise, experience with dimensional data modeling and semantic models, and a deep understanding of enterprise reporting best practices. This position will support both Commercial and GCC environments while ensuring analytics solutions meet security, governance, and performance requirements.

Pay: $95,000/year

Duties and Functions

Power BI Development

  • Design, develop, publish, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and analytical calculations.
  • Create reusable semantic models and certified datasets supporting multiple reporting use cases.
  • Optimize report performance and usability for executive, operational, and analytical audiences.
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and data access controls where required.

Data Modeling & Analytics

  • Design and maintain dimensional data models including fact and dimension structures.
  • Develop semantic models that support self-service reporting and enterprise analytics.
  • Partner with business teams to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze complex business processes and translate business needs into scalable reporting solutions.
  • Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and alignment across reports and business domains.

SQL & Data Warehouse Support

  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data validation processes.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers on warehouse design, data ingestion, and transformation logic.
  • Support Microsoft Fabric Warehouse and Lakehouse data structures.
  • Validate source-to-target mappings and support data quality initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting reporting and data-related issues across multiple source systems.

Microsoft Fabric & Data Platform Support

  • Support analytics solutions within Microsoft Fabric environments.
  • Work with Data Factory Pipelines, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and Semantic Models.
  • Coordinate development and deployment activities across Commercial and GCC environments.
  • Participate in data governance and reporting standards initiatives.
  • Implement best practices related to performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Business Partnership

  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop user documentation and provide training to business users.
  • Support executive reporting and strategic initiatives.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Reporting.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Power BI development experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of advanced SQL development experience.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience supporting both Commercial and GCC environments.
  • Experience with Salesforce reporting and analytics.
  • Experience with Workday reporting and analytics.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data warehouses.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Microsoft Fabric Data Factory.
  • Experience with source control and deployment processes.
  • Microsoft Power BI certification preferred.

Preferred Requirements

The ideal candidate:

  • Has built enterprise Power BI solutions supporting hundreds of users.
  • Understands how to build and maintain semantic models, not just reports.
  • Can read and write advanced SQL without relying on others.
  • Understands reporting architecture, data warehouse concepts, and governance.
  • Is comfortable working directly with executives and business leaders.
  • Can operate effectively in highly regulated and secure environments such as GCC.
