Two-day event raises funds and awareness for Central Florida non-profit groups
providing services to people with autism
ORLANDO, Fla. – April 25, 2022 – Loyal Source, one of the nation’s leading workforce solutions providers, presents the 15th Annual Derby Day 4 Autism event, featuring The Derby Day Golf Classic and Extravaganza. The golf classic will be held the day before the derby on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee before the celebrations continue on Saturday, May 7 for the Derby Day 4 Autism Extravaganza at Ember Orlando.
“We’re excited to bring back our beloved Derby Day event for the 15th year, bringing together members of the Orlando community for a day of Derby-themed fun while creating awareness and contributing to a cause that’s vital to the thousands of people in our community with autism and related disabilities,” said Brian Moore, CEO at Loyal Source and the founder of the event.
The golf classic will kick off with a four-person scramble format golf tournament with a shot-gun start at 1 p.m. Teams will have the chance to compete in closest-to-the-pin, hole-in-one, and tournament champion challenges.
The next day, Extravaganza guests can look forward to a day of food, mint juleps, and music as well as a live auction and raffle. Derby Day spectators are known for their eccentric and ostentatious hats, bold, preppy dresses, and seersucker suits. Derby Day will be brimming with competition-ready hats, as well as both men and women dressed in their best Derby attire. Prizes will be awarded for the best hat and best dressed. The cost is $100 for general admission and $150 for VIP admission.
With a goal to raise $175,000, Derby Day benefits Providing Autism Links & Support (PALS), the supporting non-profit organization for the University of Central Florida’s Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (UCF-CARD) to provide services and programs for more than 18,000 people with autism in Central Florida. Proceeds support individuals with autism spectrum disorders by providing inclusive community programs, social skills groups, therapeutic intervention programs, family events, community activities for children and adults, and more.
“This event is what enables us to provide more than 50% of our programs and events throughout the year,” said Judee Samuels, director of operations at the UCF Center for Autism & Related Disabilities. “We graciously thank Loyal Source’s Brian Moore and all the employees that work endlessly to make this event possible and of course, we are grateful to all who attend. Together, we do so much.”
