Job Description
Summary
The Director of Provider Liaison & Network Operations provides senior leadership and strategic direction for the national Provider Liaison function, overseeing provider network performance, compliance, and revenue optimization across MDE programs. This role is accountable for developing high‑performing leadership teams, driving enterprise‑level initiatives, and ensuring alignment between operational execution and organizational objectives.
As a senior leader, the Director serves as the primary authority for provider network strategy, examiner engagement, and cross‑functional coordination. This role ensures provider relationships are sustainable, compliant, and scalable while supporting growth, quality outcomes, and long‑term program success.
A successful National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is mandatory
Duties and Functions
Enterprise Leadership & Organizational Development:
· Provide strategic leadership for Provider Liaison Managers, Supervisors, and national field teams.
· Build and sustain a leadership pipeline by mentoring senior leaders and developing succession plans.
· Establish performance standards, accountability frameworks, and leadership development strategies across the function.
· Champion a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and provider‑centric service delivery.
Strategic Planning, Growth and Revenue Enablement:
· Define and execute the national provider network strategy in alignment with enterprise objectives.
· Partner with executive leadership to support revenue growth, capacity expansion, and operational scalability.
· Identify and evaluate growth opportunities within the examiner network to improve coverage, access, and financial performance.
· Translate strategic initiatives into measurable outcomes through clear goals, KPIs, and execution plans
National Examiner Network Oversight
· Provide executive oversight of all provider accounts, ensuring compliance with VA, MDE, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
· Set standards for provider onboarding, credentialing support, training completion, and ongoing engagement.
· Ensure organizational adherence to VBA TRAIN and MDE4VETS training requirements through cross‑departmental coordination.
· Anticipate systemic risks impacting provider performance and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
Automation, Resource Optimization & Revenue Performance:
· Lead the strategic adoption and optimization of automation, tooling, and workflow enhancements to improve provider liaison efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy while reducing manual effort.
· Partner with Technology, Operations, and Analytics teams to identify opportunities for process automation, system integrations, and performance dashboards that drive informed decision‑making.
· Own workforce planning for the Provider Liaison organization, including right‑sizing teams, optimizing span of control, and aligning staffing models to provider volume, market needs, and revenue objectives.
· Establish and monitor workload distribution models to ensure balanced capacity, minimized bottlenecks, and consistent service levels across the provider network.
· Use performance data and trend analysis to proactively adjust team structure, coverage models, and resource deployment to maximize operational efficiency.
· Drive financial performance by ensuring provider capacity, responsiveness, and report quality directly support revenue capture, throughput, and contractual performance metrics.
· Develop and track KPIs that connect automation adoption, productivity gains, and staffing efficiency to measurable financial and operational outcomes.
· Ensure automation and optimization initiatives maintain compliance with VA, MDE, and contractual requirements while improving provider and examiner experience
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
· Act as the senior liaison between providers, internal leadership, and external partners.
· Lead structured communication strategies that enhance transparency, alignment, and provider satisfaction.
· Represent the organization in executive‑level discussions related to provider network performance and strategy
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a healthcare, business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
· Senior‑level leadership experience managing multi‑layered teams.
· Extensive experience in provider network management, healthcare operations, or government‑contracted healthcare programs.
· Proven success leading strategic initiatives with measurable operational and financial impact.
· Advanced analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
· Demonstrated ability to influence across departments and at the executive level
Preferred Requirements
· Direct experience with MDE programs or VA‑related healthcare operations.
· Prior leadership experience overseeing Provider Liaison, examiner network, or medical provider operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
· Expert ability to design and execute enterprise‑level provider network strategies.
· Strong business acumen with the ability to balance quality, compliance, provider satisfaction, and revenue outcomes.
· Advanced leadership presence with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
