 EXAMINER TRAINER II 

SUMMARY  

The Examiner Trainer II provides support to Loyal Source Government Services (LSGS) owned and sub-contracted clinic(s) conducting Medical Disability Examinations, commonly referred to as Compensation and Pension (C&P) exams in a remote setting. The Examiner Trainer II trains new examiners with little or no previous MDE experience by providing direct instruction, coaching, and ongoing support. The Examiner Trainer II must be able to demonstrate the top-level proficiency, knowledge, and skills necessary to evaluate claimants served by Loyal Healthcare. 

Pay Rate: $145,454 / year

Must be willing to work 8AM-5PM PST.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS  

• Examiner Trainer IIs perform their duties in a remote setting with the expectation they may be requested to travel (10%) to support training of Examiner staff as well as subcontracted providers in a clinical setting if determined necessary. 

• In conjunction with others, will train new Examiners to conduct quality medical disability examinations and complete disability benefits questionnaires (DBQs) to LSGS and VA standards.  

• Reviews DBQs for correctness, completeness, quality, clarity, and compliance.  

  • Performs C&P exams; completes DBQs; submits DBQs, medical opinions, and diagnostics to train, teach, and stabilize clinic production on an as needed basis.   

• Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for other Examiners on conducting exams and technical aspects of DBQ completion.  

• Advises the Clinic Manager, Medical Director, and leadership on individual Examiners’ proficiency and training progress.  

• Provides remedial training via telephonic, video, or in-person training sessions for Examiners who are not proficient in maintaining minimum productivity or quality standards.  

• Collaborates with Quality Assurance (QA) and other support teams to assist Examiners with the correction and resubmission of rejected DBQs.  

• Assists the Medical Director and leadership with the dissemination of process and procedural changes and revisions to clinical guidelines published by the VA.  

• Collaborates with the Medical Director on clinical guidance for complex exams. 

• Serves as a point of escalation to assist in resolution of clinical questions and QA reject feedback for Examiners. 

• Maintains currency of expertise by staying up to date with VA C&P changes and requirements.  

• Collaborates with the Deloitte Quality Leadership Team in the continuous improvement process to align clinical guidance with VA expectations and to ensure Examiners are performing to the best of their ability.  

• Consults with colleagues on C&P topics, literature findings, differential diagnoses, and other relative C&P topics.  

• Supports Examiners with DBQ completion, diagnostic testing, and diagnosing conditions.  

• Participates in clinical meetings, VA Fireside meetings, Examiner Workshops, and other meetings as necessary.  

• Coordinates with leadership on effective policies, exams, and procedures for Examiner proficiency and efficiency.  

• Develops, implements, and conducts training for new processes or procedures directly related to the C&P program, DBQs, examinations, and submission procedures.  

  • Performs other additional duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. A valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and is not barred from practicing in any of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or a Commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States. 

  • OR    – 

Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program. A valid and unrestricted Physician Assistant license from and is not barred from practicing in any of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or a Commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States. 

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience performing compensation and pension examinations for the Veterans Administration, VA contractor, or third-party subcontractor.  

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

• Previous training/ teaching experience  

• Demonstrated ability to present training materials.  

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS  

Prior Military experience or demonstrated familiarity with the military community and culture

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITION  

Examiners trainers will work from the home location notated in their onboarding paperwork. On travel assignments, trainers are expected to work on site at the Loyal Healthcare clinic or other designated location.
