Job Description
Loyal Source Government Services is looking for 6 full-time Phlebotomist to provide services to VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) located in Reno, NV
Job Summary: Phlebotomists must provide maintenance and delivery of comprehensive applicable phlebotomy services within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the clinic to our Veteran population. For the quality and timeliness of record preparation and reports indicated to document care and procedures given. Located at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, NV. Phlebotomists are required to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and consistent care to individuals.
Pay Rate: $20.98/hr
Duties:
- Collect blood samples using the vacutainer blood collection system or syringe with needle/butterfly when necessary
- To always adhere to strict safety and infection control procedures.
- To provide patient in-processing prior to specimen collection, including review of paperwork accompanying patients and cordial guidance and assistance;
- Collect and process urine samples for both and/or timed collections for testing.
- Accession all specimens collected
- Deliver collected blood and urine samples to the appropriate departments at determined times.
- Answer the tube station; process and deliver samples to the specific departments
- Responsible for ensuring all specimens being sent to the parent facility or a local contractor. are processed and packaged for transport per the instructions of the receiving facility. This may include refrigeration, freezing, and room temperature, centrifugation, preparation of manifest, etc.
- Responsible for periodically conducting inventory of phlebotomy and other supplies and the restocking of new supplies upon receipt.
- Computer use is mandatory in performing under this contract.
- Perform centrifugation procedures as instructed by lab management.
- Perform proper veni-puncture, finger stick procedures and other tests identified by CLIA 88 regulations as being waived, using appropriate techniques
- Set-up and completion of special test-related phlebotomy procedures
- Perform phlebotomy-related administrative and clerical procedures of the Front Desk Section of the Lab
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year experience or a national or state recognized certification as a phlebotomist.
- Provide letters of recommendation from three lab supervisors, clinical teachers or physicians attesting to clinical skills.
- A current BLS certification
Additional Information:
- The VA is open 24 hour a day coverage including Saturday, Sunday and Federal Holidays.
- Shift-hours:
- 07:00 AM to 03:30 PM
- 05:00 AM to 01:30 PM
- 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM
